Under the general direction of the Chair and Manager of the Department of Design|Media Arts (DMA), the SAO will coordinate, plan, develop, implement and modify policies for effective operations of counseling services for the graduate and undergraduate programs, the admissions process, and academic planning, Major duties include advising undergraduate and graduate students on policies, procedures and degree requirements; assessment, communication and recording of academic progress; compiling pertinent data to make recommendations to the Chair and to Faculty regarding curriculum and student progress. Manage all aspects of the department's admission process including the design and preparation of relevant materials; serve as department spokesperson for admissions requirements; process applications in accordance with departmental and University regulations; assist with course scheduling and coordination; and provide assistance and support to the Faculty Admissions Committee. Manage the department's financial aid program, along with the awards and scholarship program by serving on the Scholarship Committee (including the Teaching Apprentice program), by maintaining relevant data on applicants and by serving as the department's liaison with the Graduate Division. Create databases as required to manage the admissions process, student and alumni information, scholarship and financial aid distribution, course scheduling information, all enrollment data, and other information as requested by the Chair, Manager, Dean's Office and faculty committees. Utilize on-line systems in conduct of duties. Complete special projects and reports, as needed and requested by the Chair and/or Manager.

Master's degree in a related field providing a detailed knowledge of visual and performing arts (design, media arts).
